Maruti A-Star Overview
Maruti A-Star is the eco-friendly A-segment car, which is built in India with European standards and launched in India in 2008. A-Star is the car of next generation as it has sporty youthful design, equipped with innovative K-series engine. The company started exporting this car to various countries like Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, UK, New Zealand and South Africa from 2009 January with over 1 lakh units been sold in one year.
There are four variants of Maruti A-star available in the country that comes only with petrol engine and the variants are – LXi, VXi, ZXi and the Maruti A-star with optional ABS and automatic transmission. Though the car is available in only one engine option it comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox transmission and a 4-speed automatic transmission. A-star is equipped with innovative K-Series engine, 3 cylinder with 12-valve DOHC power train, which has the capacity to churn out peak power of 67PS at the rate of 6200 rpm and a torque of 90NM at the rate of 3500 rpm.
The car conforms with BS IV emission compliance norms, Euro 4 NAD Euro 5, which help to reduce Co2 and promises to make the environment eco-friendly. Apart from being a eco-friendly car, the innovative and high-end technologies play a great role in Maruti A-star mileage, the car delivers a mileage of 14.6 km per liter in city and 18.9 km per liter on highways. The automatic version can give the mileage of 17 km per liter, the car is made up of light weight aluminum that plays great role in fuel economy.
Maruti A-star has unique exterior and impressive interior. The car has an aerodynamic design. Its front grille has innovative design with wide radiator, combined with distinctive headlamps. It comes with unique comet-shape tail light cluster that makes the car more impressive. The interior is equipped with lots of comfort and luxury features. Some of the standard features in its interior are power steering, power windows, air conditioner, tachometer, central locking, cup holders and an audio system with CD player.
Maruti A-Star comes with ample of attractive color choices, one can choose from azure gray, sunlight copper, artic white, paradise blue, midnight black, silky silver, healing green, desert brown and bright red. Maruti A-Star is loaded with anti-lock breaking system with EBD, rear defogger, front fog lamps, child locks, central lock, security system, immobilizer, head light leveling, high mounted stop lamp, force limiters, seat belt pre-tensioned and force limiters.
This car mainly competes with the best selling Hyundai i10 cars and Maruti A-star prices fall between 3.5 lacs and 4.5 lacs.
