Would this setup work for recording our band?
Our church's worship band is wanting to start recording it's self and was wondering if this set up would work for live recording, as I don't know anything about recording digitally:
The core of the system will be the Mbox 2 Pro. Connected to it's Hi-z's will be an electric guitar and an electric bass. The electric piano will be connected to Input 1. For the drums we would have 7 mics go first into a mixer, and then into the stereo of input 2. The two vocal mics would go into the rear mic jacks.
The part that I'm most confused about is the drums. I don't know how to hook the drum's 7 mics up without using a mixer first. If anybody has a solution, please let me know.

Drums:
Unless you are willing to use 3 mic technique (two overhead plus kick mic) then you are correct to use an external mixer first. Just make sure to get yourself a good sounding board. But then you loose the total control of the drum instrument during final mix.
